FAQ

Shipping Time

At DarkLight Dynamics, we’re proud to be a USA-based company, ensuring our customers enjoy fast and reliable shipping. Say goodbye to the 8–16 week waiting periods common with overseas competitors, and forget the stress of shady payment methods or dealing with customs tariffs. Your order will ship quickly and securely, right here from the United States.

We process orders Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and business closures. Orders typically ship within 1–3 business days. We make every effort to ship orders by the next business day, but processing times may vary depending on order volume, inventory availability, and other operational factors.

We prioritize expedited shipping services, including UPS Air and USPS Priority Mail, whenever possible. Please note that processing times are separate from carrier transit times, and estimated delivery dates are not guaranteed.

Every laser comes with a 1 year warranty. Please refer to our Warranty and Returns Policy for more info.

Each DLD-EG (LA-5 or NGAL) is individually hand-inspected to ensure it meets our strict quality-control standards before shipment. Every unit includes a signed DLD QC Checklist verifying that it has passed inspection, helping ensure you receive a fully functional unit rather than a DOA (dead-on-arrival) product or defective unit.

All lasers are tested to withstand impacts of at least 1200G, delivering exceptional durability and reliability for demanding conditions.

Q: Are the LA-5 and NGAL compatible with the same remote pressure switches?

No. The LA-5 uses a standard Crane-style connector, while the NGAL uses an LA-23 connector. These connectors are different and are not directly interchangeable.

Q: Which remote switches are compatible with the LA-5?

The LA-5 is compatible with remote switches designed for its Crane-style connector.

Q: Which remote switches are compatible with the NGAL?

The NGAL requires a compatible LA-23 remote switch. Before purchasing an aftermarket switch, verify that it specifically supports the NGAL and the functions of your particular unit.

Q: Can I use my existing LA-5 Crane-style switch with an NGAL?

No. A standard Crane-style switch will not directly connect to an NGAL with an LA-23 port. You will need a compatible LA-23 switch.

Q: Does the NGAL support VIS override?

The NGAL supports VIS override. To retain this functionality, use a compatible LA-23 switch specifically designed to support the required feature.

Q: What should I check before purchasing a replacement switch?

Confirm the connector type, compatibility with your specific unit, and support for any required features, including VIS override. Connector compatibility alone does not guarantee that every switch function will work.

DLD-EG Water Resistance Test

DLD-EG IP67 rated NGAL

Submersible rated, able to be used under water for short periods of time, heavy rain, snow, and other wet conditions. The highest rated water resistant NGAL.

DLD-EG IP64 NGAL

Suitable for use in heavy rain, snow, and other wet conditions. However, they are not waterproof! Please do not submerge them underwater.

EG NGALs are IP51-rated

Light rain and snow resistance.

Almost all DLD-EG NGALs have an accuracy of around 1-2 MOA.

The primary distinction between an EEL (Edge-Emitting Laser) IR illuminator and a VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) illuminator lies in the direction of light emission. EELs emit light parallel to the chip surface, whereas VCSELs emit light perpendicularly from the top surface. This design difference gives VCSELs a more focused and consistent beam quality.

DLD-EG NGALs, in particular, are more expensive than standard NGALs due to the final hand quality control, and overall functional checks of the unit, as well as the final epoxy/sealing process that makes them IP64 or IP67 rated.
